Founder’s Insight: Valme Murielle

In Haiti, where more than 59% of the population lives below the poverty line, access to education and basic necessities such as housing often feels like a distant dream rather than a fundamental right. I know this reality firsthand, having been raised by a single parent whose unwavering resilience taught me that determination and faith can open doors—even in the face of limited resources.

Following the devastating 2010 earthquake that left our community in ruins, my mother and I found refuge through a local ministry that offered not only shelter but also hope in a time of unimaginable loss. It was during this period that I witnessed the transformative power of compassion and the strength found in collective support.

That support deepened when REV HOME was founded under Global Partners. “REV,” meaning dream in Haitian Creole, truly lived up to its name. At REV HOME, I was provided with a safe and nurturing environment, access to education, and the stability needed to rebuild my life. That experience became the foundation of who I am today.

Our mission, “One Child at a Time, to Empower Haiti’s Future,” is rooted in my own story.
